A native of Elmira, New York, Michael Vertoske holds a Master of Music degree and Bachelor of Music Education degree from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. He has taught music in New York State since 1995 and is currently a band director at Williamsville North High School in Williamsville, New York.
Mr. Vertoske particularly enjoys writing for wind band, jazz band and instrumental chamber ensembles. His wind band compositions have been performed and presented at several prestigious venues, including the WASBE Conference, the
Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic and the New York State Band Directors Association Annual Symposium.
Mr. Vertoske's works are published by several publishing companies and many of his compositions appear on multiple state band repertoire lists. Additionally, he has compositions featured in the GIA publication: Teaching Music through Performance in Band.
